A very floriferous, perfumed and melliferous tree. Flowers are blue-lilac and white in April-May, bunches are very long, going from 50cm to 1m, and sometimes up to 1m50 ! The length varies with age and conditions of culture. The leaves, deciduous, are a shiny dark green turning yellow in autumn. The young shoots are tainted a pale bronze. The leaf is composed of 11 to 17 little leaflets. The stems go round their prop in a clockwise fashion. Known in Japan for over 400 years. Synonym : multijuga
