Cercidiphyllum is a member of the Cercidiphyllaceae family. Cercidiphyllum japonicum is known as the caramel tree in France because of the scent which is released by its leaves in autumn, when the leaves fall. The deciduous leaves of this majestic tree display red-brown tints in spring, then damask rose, orange-yellow and purple-red in autumn. Grow as a specimen or in groups in parks, medium or large gardens.
