Lagerstroemia, or crepe myrtle, belogs to the Lythraceae family. It thrives in hot regions with humid air. The varieties offered by Minier flower abundantly in the Loire valley. Its deciduous foliage is yellow, turning purple-red in autumn, and its smooth decorative bark is shed in small strips. It flowers abundantly in summer: its double flowers, pink, mauve or red, are held in terminal panicles. It is suited to being grown as a specimen, in a group, associated in beds, in containers for the bushy shrub form or trained against a sunny wall.
