Laburnum is a member of the Fabaceae family. Its deciduous foliage turns yellow in autumn, and its small golden yellow flowers, borne in loose bunches, appears in May, giving way to poisonous greyish pods of seeds. It is best planted as a specimen, in groups or associated in beds or informal hedges but can also be trained into a tunnel covering a walkway, like Wisteria, and grown together in this way, the two can complement each other very nicely.
