Syringa or Lilac belongs to the Oleaceae family. This genus includes numerous species but the most widespread are Syringa vulgaris, or French Lilac, which must take its name from the fact that most varieties were cultivated in French nurseries. Minier has continued the tradition by the introduction and creation of new varieties, and offers a large range of colours and flower forms, suitable for all types of gardens. They are all deciduous, and prefer ordinary to dry chalky soils.
