Deutzia is a member of the Hydrangaceae family. This genus includes shrubs grown for their decorative effect and their hardiness. Deutzia grows in all soil types, tending to poor soil. There are shrub form or prostrate growing varieties. Its pink or white flowers are borne in bunches from May onwards. It can be grown as a specimen or in groups in beds, or as an informal hedge. The species x elegantissima ‘Rosealind’, a hybrid of Deutzia purpurascens et sieboldiana was introduced into France by Minier in 1977.
