Schizophragma belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family. It is in fact a climbing Hydrangea. This vigorous twining plant with shoots attaching to their support by means of aerial roots bears large loose pink or white inflorescences in June-July. Schizophragma grows in damp soil, in shade or semi-shade, and is used to decorate walls, screens, fences, trellises and also the trunks of large trees.
