A perennial, Agapanthus belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family. Clump –forming, from which emerge rigid shoots bearing long dark green leaves which are glossy, stiff and leathery forming distinctive ribbon shapes, and can be deciduous or evergreen. Its blue or white flower is visible from June to September. It can be planted in groups or as a specimen in rockeries or in the middle of an island-bed, surrounded by smaller plants. It also grows very well in containers, which makes it easier to protect in colder regions.
