Cornus or Dogwood belongs to the Cornaceae family. This genus includes shrubs and small trees with decorative leaves, flowers, fruits and bark. Its flowers are melliferous, especially those of Cornus Mas, which produce a lot of pollen but little nectar. The shoots of Cornus alba are remarkable for their colour; bright or dark red, yellow, pink or violet according to the variety. This broad colour palette makes Cornus a very interesting shrub in an island bed, associated with other plants with decorative wood or bark. In flower it embellishes our gardens from February (mas and officinalis) followed by florida and then kousa. In certain countries Cornus mas is considered a fruit tree. Cornus controversa has a very graceful form.
