Eleagnus is a shrub of the Eleagnaceae family. Its branches are more or less spiny, its foliage long-lasing to evergreen, silvery- or yellowy- green. Very decorative, it is covered in discrete but strongly-scented melliferous flowers from May onwards. Certain species produce edible fruits. Very well-suited to sea coasts, it can be grown as a specimen, in a shrubbery or in hedges.
