Ceanothus is a shrub from the Rhamnaceae family. This genus includes attractive deciduous or evergreen shrubs, with melliferous blossom. The evergreen species and varieties are the most numerous. They almost always produce blue flowers at the end of spring, and cannot tolerate hard frosts. The deciduous species are more hardy, and flower in summer, bearing white pink or blue flowers on that year’s wood, requiring hard-pruning at the end of winter.
