Hamamelis or Witch hazel belongs to the Hamaelidaceae family. They can be found in North America and Asia. Their orange-yellow winter flowers, sometimes fragrant, open even in snow, on the previous year’s wood. Certain species have very colourful autumn foliage. Hamamelis can be planted as a specimen, in groups, in shrub borders or informal hedges. It is also suitable for container growing. It prefers soil not to be too dry.
