Genista or Broom belongs to the Fabaceae family. These are small shrubs with bright yellow flowers borne in sprays, appearing in May for certain species. Lydia was introduced into France by Minier in 1965. It appreciates a bright sunny position and is suitable for growing as a specimen, in groups, in rockeries, on banks, in the border or in containers. It is drought-resistant but certain species are intolerant of extreme cold weather.
