Carpinus, or Hornbeam, is a member of the Betulaceae family. They are monoecious trees. Each tree carries both male and female flowers. According to the species, they can be very beautiful. Its leaves dry in autumn but do not necessarily fall from the tree. Hardy, Carpinus is resistant to pests. It is mainly grown as a specimen but can also be planted in a group, as a formal hedge or as a windbreak.
