Camellia is a genus of the Theaceae family. Its elegant blossom appears from September to April depending on the species. The flowers are formal double, single, semi-double, double or peony form. Colours range from white to very dark red. Although it tolerates a degree of frost, it also requires shelter from full sun and snow, both of which can burn its foliage. It can be grown as a specimen, in island beds or as a hedge.
