Malus or Crab Apple belongs to the Rosaceae family. These are generally small trees chosen for their abundant spring flowers, ranging from pure white to dark red depending on the variety. The fruit which follows is also equally abundant in autumn and consists of small orange or red fruits depending on the selections and can continue into winter, to give a very interesting decorative winter display. It is suitable for all types of soil and can be grown as a specimen, in a hedge, in association in informal hedges and in large beds.
