Slender conical form, with spread out branches, drooping with age. Vigorous and resistant to wind. Impressive browny-red furrowed bark, thick and spongey. Imposing trunk on the older subjects. Green-blue foliage giving off an aniseed scent when rubbed. Green, round and lumpy cones of 7-8cm, turning brown with age. Normal, deep soils even chalky. Plant isolated in large gardens or along a path.
