Small tree with different red tinged in every season. It is easy to grow and has a dark red bark. In April-may, it produces a large amount of pink almond-scented flowers, organised in clusters. Coppery purple foliage in spring turning dark green with purple veins in summer. At the end of summer, it bears small edible but bitter black fruits. It can be pruned into a shrub.
