A vigorous and rustic plant, resistant to cold weather and a bit more tolerant of chalky soils, than the Photinia x fraseri. The jagged leaves and their chocolate coloured shoots are attractive and original. Corymbs of white flowers appear in spring, attracting bees, followed by little bright pink berries.
