Read detailed description :

The only species of its genus, considered a living fossile. Well-known in its fossile form, it was thought to have disappeared. Nowadays, it is widespread in arboretums and parks. Regular conical form, spreading out with age. Rapid growth usually, but slow in chalky soils. Resistant to pollution. Brown-red bark, becoming flaky with age. A strong erect trunk, bloated and thicker at the base. Deciduous leaves, a tender green colour, turning bronze with tints of pink and yellow in the autumn. Tolerates chalky and sodden soils.
