Read detailed description :

Covered with magenta-red flowers carrying purple anthers between March and the end of April. Calyx of the same colour as the corolla which gives the impression that two flowers are nested in one another. Vigorous, compact and hardy plant. Small dark green foliage. The hardiest of the Obtusum group (Hybrids of Kaempferi). The first plants of the group were introduced in Europe by Robert Fortune in 1844, and are at the origin of the Kurumé Azaleas with R. kiusianum.
