Small rounded tree able to be formed into a bush. Golden leaves in spring with purpely-red edges, turning light green in summer, and a rich gold to light brown in autumn. Lovely large dentate leaves with 5-7 lobes of 8-15cm long. Any normal soil, even dry and chalky. Can grow to over 10m high. Bred by the Hesse Nurseries at Weener (DE) under the name 'Acer laetum f. aureum'. The american botanist Rheder, classified it as a Cappadocian Maple in 1914. Melliferous plant.
