A vigorous male variety, with large curvy leaves and up to 20cm long catkins. Compact, erect and evergreen shrub, growing slowly in youth, and can be trellised against a wall. The large drooping catkins appearing at the end of winter, are always longer on male subjects, like those reproduced by cuttings. Prefers a well drained soil, even dry. Shelter from the cold.
