An improvement of the Q. pedunculate fastigiata; narrower and more compact with marcescent leaves (dried leaves, staying on the tree until the following spring) and a better resistance to mildew. A dense foliage with large leaves. The fastigiate Oak was first discovered in Germany, in the wild, around 1783.
