This Bamboo is compact, erect, dense and is the tallest of the genus, perfect planted as a screen, hidden from sight, but also isolated or in a container. The olive-green leaves are delicate, elegant and stay on the plant in winter. In central China, the Giant Panda eats the young shoots. The green culms will get purple tints in age. These tufts will grow in width without becoming intrusive. Plant in a shelterd zone, protected from wind, preferably in half or full shade, in a cool soil, regularly watering during very dry weather in summer. Appreciates a well drained soil, with added compost.
