Beautiful shade tree with very wide foliage. Decorative fruit looking like large flat beans. Can grow up to 15 m tall. Melliferous plant. Genus dedicated to the Abbé Jean Paul Bignon (1662-1743), great state clerk, preacher and librarian of Louis XIV, distinguished member of the French Academy of Sciences. He is at the origin of the National Library of France.
